FINALLY
We finally have our truck! Sort of. I took it in for command start and a boxliner on Wednesday morning to have to leave it there because after the command start was installed the truck lost most of its electrical read outs/lights! To say DH was mad would be an understatement. LP & I were given a loaner vehicle and sent home.
Yesterday we found out that the bad module they put in the truck blew the entire electrical cluster (the main electrical panel) in the truck. Today they are waiting for the part and it should be ready to go this afternoon. Once the cluster is installed the entire truck will have to be reprogrammed (digital read-outs and all that crap). Scary shit.
In fact, I have decided to name the truck Murphy as in Murphy's Law. The day we drove out to Carberry with the new rims and tires we got there and they started mounting wheels. Its took 3 hours. The rubber is so strong that it didn't matter how much you pounded on them they would not seed on the rims. Once they got them on the truck we discovered that the tires were to big and that the frame of the truck would have to be cut and repainted to accomodate the tires. We were sent home and had to come back.
This whole ordeal has been a glusterfuck for lack of a better work. Or a gong show. We have driven so many different vehicles, thanks to great friends. While the Duramax was getting repairs done for the failed safety we were driving a 2004 GMC Envoy. Nice little SUV. We had that about a week. Then we got the Duramax back and sold, got the new truck ready - lift kit on, exhaust on, to find out our rubber was delayed in shipping. Thanks to our good friends who have 3 vehicles who borrowed us their 2011 Honda Accord. We had that for 4 or 5 days. Nice little car. Sporty little cars and my lead foot are not a good mix! We traded vehicles for their 2011 Ford F150. If your looking for a truck and are a Ford person, this is a nice truck. Rides really nice, has a huge backseat for the kids and luxuries. Wow. Sweet ride Rigs! Then we had the whole frame disaster and had NO wheels. That was interesting. We spent two days riding our bikes and towing LP in the bike trailer. Talk about a workout. My quads have never felt better.
We had one of our neighbors borrow us their vehicle to get our truck that Saturday. 2001 Alero. Over 200,000 kms are this car and still running great.
Anyways, then I had this fiasco at Dodge. All I can say is, if you think your doing yourself a favor by getting a better price on more complex vehicle work by taking it to the mechanic down the street, think again. I truly believe that if this problem has happened at one of those places we would be shit out of luck. Dodge is replacing the cluster which is about a $400.00 part plus all of the labor. Scary shit!
Anyways, here it is. DH has the tonneau cover in the garage to put on and a little bit of frame painting and then we are done. Oh and he is going to put a stabilzer bar on the steering box. He's such a good man. I love having a handy husband who can build, fix and do things.
