A week and a half ago I found a lump in my breast. I called the doctor the next day and got in with another doctor a couple days later. After her examine she told me she was pretty sure that it was a fibroid but that we should schedule a mammogram just to be sure. The next day I got a phone call from radiology and had my mammogram at 8:00 this morning.
I left the house at 6:40 a.m. Man, it was dark out. I checked myself in, did the x-rays and left. I was on my way to Walmart, kidless by 8:10 a.m. Wow.
I was home and unpacked by about 11:20 a.m. And that was with a stop in Boissevain for some new shin pads for the boy.
At about 12:35 p.m. the doctors office called to say they had the results and that I have a Fibroadenoma. Fibroadenomas are one of the most common types of breast lumps in women in their 20s and 30s, according to MayoClinic.com. These lumps are characterized by a well-defined, firm or hard shape; they are usually painless and move under the skin when prodded. They are noncancerous tumors that are composed of both connective and glandular tissue. It is important to monitor these lumps for changes in size. I'll have to go back in a year to have it checked again but otherwise I'm okay.
On another note, today we got some positive and very, very exciting news about hubby going back to work. His checks are all in order and well, he's going back to work, gradually of course. Lots of BIG changes in store for us and we are all very excited about it. We initiated the process back in June and I cannot wait to write it in the stars and begin new.
