ME, A RUNNER?

Last June I decided it was time to get off my ass and lose some weight! DH and I bought a fancy treadmill the past November and while I had used it a bit I hadn't used it nearly as much as I should have. I started off running till I was winded and then walking till I caught my breath and did it all over again. Every couple of days I would push myself to run a little longer. Then I was tuned into the C25k program. Worked out great as I could download it to Little Princess' iPod which I used for music anyways. I breezed through the first 4 weeks. I had been running everyday so I had built up so cardio. By July I had lost 10lbs! I was feeling great. As August approached I was nearing the end of the 9 week program and was down 15lbs when we left for our one week trip to Winnipeg. Unfortunately I gained 3lbs while we were there. I finished the program when we got home. 30 mins of straight running but I wasn't hitting exactly 5km at the speed I was going. But damn I was feeling good.

So I took a couple weeks off and in mid-September I started over again. This time I upped my speed so that I was running at 6.0. I'm feeling good but I'm cheating eating wise off the treadmill which I didn't do the first go around. I need to re-train myself that way again. Besides last week when I was feeling like total doo-doo I've been running everyday and those days that don't feel as good to me, I re-do them.

I am also doing 80 push-ups a day. I started at 40 but now do 40 twice a day. I feel better. My arms aren't so flappy.

I never pictured myself a runner. But I guess now I am. So much so that today I realized that I have worn out my runners.

In fact, I remember as a teenager my Auntie would run. And ride her bike. I always thought that was just to much work for me. Now I just crank the tunes and go.

Anyways, that's my mindless blabbering for one day.

If I can do it, its not that hard. If you've ever thought about it, try it. The app is available for your iPod and also Blackberry.
