Hockey is over which means, so is my social life, lmao.
Friday after school we took off to Brandon with the kids and one of LM's team mates. Straight to the pool we went. One of our neighbors was also in town for the night with their boys but at a different hotel so they headed over for a swim and supper as well. We waited for Coach Stephanie and the other parents to join us, had dinner and then headed to the Wheaties Game. What a blast. The boys were getting all silly and ended up on the jumbotron as did Susan & I. Ya, not as funny as when the kids were on. Right at the end of the game LM got sick! First thing I thought of, Altona weekend. Hauled him out of the rink and straight into the bed. He slept till 8:30 the next morning and has been fine ever since. Must have caught the one-day bug that was going around in his class and with the team earlier in the week. Man, I was a bag of nerves that night. We've been sick since the second week of January or so. We need to build up our immunity again.
Anyways, off to Souris in the AM. Man, did the kids play great. LM was on fire! If only he was feeling that good last weekend for the playoffs. Anyways, the kids went out with a bang with 2 straight wins, compliments from the other parents about passing and play making. The kids give their coaches a Keg gift certificate and a card. DH was thrilled. LM and DH headed off to the Wheaties game again Saturday night (thank you Mr. Dyck for your ticket) and LP and I stayed at the hotel to swim with Susan and the boys.
We spent the rest of the evening beside the pool sharing laughs and drinks with the Outhwaites, Dyck's and Nafziger's. We didn't go to bed till 2 a.m. |What a wonderful bunch of parents and kids. These are the weekends that make me realize that staying was a good idea :)
This morning we said good-bye to our fellow team mates who were off to a major's tournament while we headed to the pool. Then we went back to Souris to watch the Southwest Cougars play and eliminate Norman in the first round of the playoffs. Great game. Awesome job Brian on your shut-out.
So we'll have some time off and head into extended season which will be great for the kids with less obligation.
LP is still in dance which I believe goes until April. She is also enrolled in Shake, Rattle & Roll which she LOVES. I'm not sure if she'll do the recital for dance. She says she doesn't like when people laugh at her, which they didn't or if they did, she misunderstood the laughter was all about the cuteness of the group. Regardless I'm thrilled that she's participating. While she is very outgoing at most times she does have her moments and does clam up sometimes. And because we are always on the go with hockey we have to make sure that we are doing stuff for her as well. She announced this winter that she wants to play hockey next year as well.
Here's a sneak peek of the awesome photos Sharon Strain did of the boys while she was out a couple weeks ago. She got about 10 or so of LM and will be putting a package together for us. Can't wait.
