I know, I know, I do this every 2 years or so. I'm kicking myself in the ass for not just buying the one I wanted last time. Which would have been fine and dandy but they've since upgraded it already. DH doesn't say anything. I guess with his super expensive racing hobby, a new camera is like a drop in the bucket cash comparrison wise.
So instead of rushing out and buying a new one like I usually do, I reviewed mine online again. Its a great camera. So I've decided that for the first time since owning a digital camera and taking a liking to photography, I'm going to sit down, read the manual and learn how to use the thing. First off, find the instruction manual. Ya, that didn't happen. So last night I'm sitting here printing out a new one :0 and while the 196 pages are filing out of the printer (thanks Mom & Noel - I love this thing - now I need to find time to use the printer to its great potental as well) I realized that this camera does things I didn't even realize it did!!!
So, I've pulled out some of my easier photography books. Digital Photography for Dummies (of course) and Digital Photography for Dummies Workbook (need to practice what you learn). I also bought that set of books by the really smart Scott whomever guy that are supposed to be really good for learning digital photography. I've had them for years and they just sit on the shelf and collect dust. Once I start to get a better understanding of the settings I think I'll find a forum online that lays out a daily photo challenge just to test my skills and make sure I'm actually absorbing the info. I did sign up at one site already and it looks like a lot of fun.
I've also began researching more attachements for my camera. And there are a lot more. So before I go rushing out buying something even more advanced, I should learn to use the one I have and maybe, I have what I need.
One of these days I want to take an actual photography course. I should have taken it in high school, stupid me.
So ya, that's one of my New Year resolutions for 2012. Its not like I don't have the time.
So maybe this means, more great photos to come??
